The bottleneck is trust: SaaS founders already have Baremetrics, ChartMogul, or the Stripe dashboard, and they need a reason to pay for a narrative layer on top of something they think they already have.

What it is

Remetry, a Stripe analytics tool for SaaS founders that writes the weekly revenue commentary in plain English: MRR moves, churn shifts, upgrade drivers, delivered like a human analyst note instead of a dashboard. Just launched, first product.

Who actually pays

Solo or two-person SaaS founders running a Stripe-billed product between roughly 50 and 500 subscribers who check their metrics weekly but still can't explain to themselves, a co-founder, or an investor exactly why MRR moved the way it did.

Do this first

Go to r/SaaS and r/indiehackers right now and search for threads where founders are posting their monthly or weekly revenue updates and asking why their MRR moved. Reply to those threads with a specific, useful read on their numbers, no pitch, no link, just genuine analysis in plain English. At the end of the reply, say you built a tool that writes this kind of note automatically every week and ask if they'd want to try it free for a month. One good reply in the right thread is worth more than a launch post.

It takes less than you think

Three founders who were exactly here

Same space, same stage, real numbers. Every one of these is a live link you can go and read.

First paying customer from ~10 conversations

Got first payment by searching Reddit and Indie Hackers for posts where people described the exact problem, replied helpfully, then DM'd after they engaged. Took roughly 10 qualified conversations, not 100 cold messages.

Indie Hackers thread

First paying customer after one month free

Messaged companies where he personally knew someone, asked if they needed an analytics tool, scheduled a 10-minute demo call. Gave a free month, built the features they asked for, then converted to paid.

Indie Hackers first-customer stories

Significant inbound, converted to pilots and paying customers

Sponsored newsletters from bloggers with trusted content in their space early on. Generated inbound traffic and converted those visitors into pilots, then paying customers.

Ranked by how well the people there match who actually pays. Only the channels that fit your buyer. If one you'd expect is missing, that's deliberate.

Community commenting (Indie Hackers and r/SaaS)

Start here

The exact buyer, solo SaaS founders confused by their MRR moves, posts publicly in these rooms every week. One useful reply in the right thread is the fastest path to a first conversation at this stage.

PlaySearch r/SaaS and Indie Hackers for posts with 'MRR' or 'churn' in the last 7 days. Reply with a specific, useful read on their numbers. Mention Remetry and the free pilot at the end.

Direct outreach to founders building in public on X

Start here

Founders who post weekly MRR updates on X are self-identifying as the exact buyer. Suhail of Mixpanel got early customers by replying to people discussing the problem on Twitter. The pattern holds for analytics tools.

PlaySearch X for 'MRR this week' or 'churn this month' from the last 3 days. Reply to 5 founders with a specific, useful observation about their numbers. Then DM the ones who engage and offer a free month of Remetry.
WinA founder replies to your DM and asks how to connect their Stripe account.

Cold email to solo SaaS founders

Start here

B2B SaaS founders who post revenue publicly on Indie Hackers or their own sites are findable and warm enough for a short, personal email. Works best when the email references something specific about their business, not a template.

PlayFind 15 founders who have posted their MRR publicly on Indie Hackers in the last month. Send each a one-paragraph email that names a specific thing about their revenue situation and offers a free month of Remetry.
Win3 or more replies in the first week, at least one asking for a demo or a link.

Each play is the angle, not the post. You write the words: posts that read as AI get buried, and the angle was the hard part.

Not this week

Real channels, wrong for the stage you're at. Revisit once the start-here moves are landing.

Maybe laterProduct Hunt launch

Product Hunt can drive signups but almost none of them convert to paying customers at this stage without existing social proof. Worth doing after you have 3 to 5 paying customers and a testimonial or two.

Maybe laterSEO and content

The search terms that would bring in buyers, 'Stripe MRR analytics', 'SaaS revenue commentary', are either dominated by Baremetrics and ChartMogul or have low volume. Content takes months to rank. Skip until you have product-market fit.

SkipPaid ads

No social proof, no conversion data, no idea yet which message lands. Paid ads at this stage will burn cash and tell you nothing useful. Skip entirely until you have 20 paying customers and know which objection you're overcoming.

SkipTikTok or short-form video

Solo SaaS founders who pay for analytics tools are not discovering them on TikTok. The audience is wrong and the format rewards entertainment, not utility. Not worth a minute of time at this stage.
