With conditions

r/Etsy's own rules name one place for your own work: the stickied Critique and Share Your Stuff threads.

Commenting in threads

Open

The room does not restrict who can comment, so answering a question in a thread is open to you.

From the room's own comment setting

Rules quoted from a public mirror's copy, captured 26 Jan 2025 and read by us on 15 Oct 2026. Rules can change after a copy is taken, so check the live rules page before you post.

What r/Etsy's own rules say

Every line below is the room's own sentence, word for word, including its spelling. We pick the sentences about promotion, links and who may post; we never shorten one.

  • Links to Etsy are only allowed in stickied Critique and Share Your Stuff threads.
Rule: No Direct Links to Etsy, Shameless Plugs, Promotional Posts, or Referral Links
  • If you offer a service for Etsy sellers, post your info in the weekly Share Your Stuff thread.
Rule: No Direct Links to Etsy, Shameless Plugs, Promotional Posts, or Referral Links
  • The same applies if you are looking for feedback on, testers for, or to promote a tool for sellers.
Rule: Please Post Surveys and Seller Tools in the Share Your Stuff Thread
  • NO DIRECT LINKS TO ETSY These are only allowed in stickied Critique and Share Your Stuff threads.

  • NO SHAMELESS PLUGS OR PROMOTION POSTS These must go in to the weekly Share Your Stuff thread, social media threads or themed request threads.

What it actually removes

r/Etsy removed 29 posts for links or promotion in 7 days, counted from its own moderator bot's public comments over 7 days, read 10 Oct 2026. Through a public mirror, not the Reddit API.

  • 29Links or promotion, removed for carrying a link or reading as promotion.

This counts only what the room announces. A moderator removing something by hand leaves nothing to count, so a low number would prove nothing, which is why we only print this for rooms where it is high.

What to do instead

  1. Use the stickied Critique and Share Your Stuff threads the room's own rules name, and keep to what that thread is for.
  2. Answer questions instead of announcing. Mention what you sell only when it answers the question, and say it is yours.
  3. Leave the link out of your first replies. Links are what this room's bot was counted removing.
  4. Read the live rules page before you post. The rules can change after the copy we quote was taken.

How this page was made

The rules come from the arctic-shift public mirror's copy of the room's rules list, sidebar and posting guidelines. We do not use the Reddit API. The posting answer rests on the room's own words when they say anything about promotion, then on removals we counted, then on our inference, and the line under each answer says which. A rule that was rewritten after the mirror's copy was taken will not show here, which is why the capture date is printed above.
