Kasspian vs Google Alerts

Google Alerts does one job. Kasspian does a different one.

Google's free monitoring service: enter a query, get email digests when new results matching it appear in Google's index. Built for tracking topics and mentions, not for lead generation.

Every figure below was read from Google Alerts’s own site on 27 August 2026. Check it before you buy, prices move.

What Google Alerts is

Pricing
Free. No tiers, no limits worth naming.
What it covers
New pages entering Google's index for your query: news, blogs, web. Delivery is email digests, at-most-daily or weekly, or as-it-happens.
What you give it
A search query. It does not know what your product is or who buys it.

Side by side

The actual difference

Google Alerts

Google Alerts answers one question for free: has a new page mentioning this phrase entered the index? For brand mentions, your own name, or a competitor's, it is genuinely enough, and nothing else costs less.

Kasspian

Finding customers is a different question from finding mentions. The founder asking 'is there a tool that just tells me BUY or skip' in a subreddit yesterday will never trip a keyword alert for your product, because they do not know your product exists. Kasspian starts from what you sell, finds the rooms and live threads where that buyer already asks, checks the room's promotion rules, and writes the reply. Alerts watch words; this hunts people.

Be honest

Use Google Alerts, not Kasspian, when

  • You want brand monitoring: your name, your competitors' names, your own links, for free.
  • Your buyers write public web pages and news, where Google's index actually looks.
  • You need zero learning curve and zero cost, forever.

The other way

Use Kasspian when

  • The people you need are asking questions in communities, not publishing pages: alerts barely see inside Reddit threads, Discords and forums, and never rank them by buying intent.
  • You do not know the right keywords yet because you do not know where your buyers hang out. That discovery is the product here.
  • You want the next step included: not a link in a digest but a named room, a rules check, and a drafted reply.

Describe your business and read the answer before you pay anything. Free tier, no card, and the rooms come with whether you are allowed to post in them.

Questions

Questions

Is Kasspian a Google Alerts alternative?
Only if you are using Google Alerts to hunt customers, which it was never built for. For brand and topic monitoring, keep Alerts, it is free and fine. For finding the specific rooms and threads where your first buyers already ask, that is Kasspian's job, and the two run happily side by side.
Does Google Alerts cover Reddit?
Only to the extent Reddit pages surface in Google's index for your query, which in practice misses most in-thread conversation and everything phrased in words you did not predict. It also has no notion of whether a mention is a buying signal.
How much does Kasspian cost?
Free is $0 and includes two idea reads with real web sources and two get-customers plans, no card. Pro is $19/mo for unlimited. Agency is $299/mo for people running this across a book of clients.
