The actual difference

Syften

Syften starts the moment you know what to listen for. It is a very good ear: the platform coverage is wider than anything else in this space, and if your brand or a competitor's name is being said anywhere, Syften is how you hear about it within minutes.

Kasspian

Kasspian starts one step earlier, when you do not yet know which rooms are worth listening to. You describe the business, and it names the specific communities, marketplaces and directories your buyers are in, why they are there, what to say, and whether posting is allowed or whether commenting is the only open door. It runs when you ask, not continuously.

Use Syften, not Kasspian, when

  • You want to know within minutes when your product, your competitor, or a phrase you care about gets mentioned. Kasspian has no alerting at all.
  • You are monitoring far beyond Reddit: GitHub issues, Stack Exchange, podcasts, newsletters. Syften's coverage there is the widest in this category.
  • You already know your communities and the job is keeping up with them, not choosing them.

Use Kasspian when

  • You do not yet know where to start, or you are not sure your buyers are on Reddit at all.
  • You have been posting and getting removed. Every room Kasspian names carries a read on whether posting is allowed or whether you should comment instead.
  • You want the read for free before paying anything. Kasspian's free tier is $0 with 5 web-sourced reads.

Describe your business and read the answer before you pay anything. Free tier, no card, and the rooms come with whether you are allowed to post in them.
